The Farm Bill of 2018 made it federally legal to grow hemp and extract cannabidiol, so long as it is from hemp plants that contain less than 0.3% THC. However, the FDA is still reviewing the use of CBD and has not made a ruling on the use of cannabinoids as food additives or dietary supplements.
